| After over half a year of inactivity, The Guys That Like To Get Together And Sing are at it again. So it appears, anyway. Last week, we held our first rehearsal since the spring competition in Peoria complete with Ben Mohler and everything. We've developed something of a harebrained rehearsal schedule (early mornings, late nights every two weeks) and are planning on looking at some new material when next we meet. And if all goes well, you can expect us to compete again this coming spring in Sioux City on April 24. I'm excited; I was afraid we were defunct. Go us!
While you're here, check out the first page of the Serenade. Those champions you see there are the chorus that Scottie, Joe McLean, and I sing with and that Jeff and Ben are destined to join eventually. Don't recognize me in the picture? Here's a hint: I am NOT third from the right on the front row. (That's Tom Elefson. You might remember him; he's the coach you met earlier.) Too bad Scott couldn't make it that weekend. But hopefully, he'll be there to help us make a splash in Philadelphia this summer.

| Don't know if I should be doing this, but I wanted to invite anyone (guys especially) who sees this to Central Standard's guest night on June 4th at 7PM. It's basically going to be a rehearsal focused on our guests; we'll have them on the risers singing and working on "Happy Together" with us. It should be a blast, so come.

| Ben baled on us a few weeks ago. Bummer, right? But now Cullen Maday is helping us out on bass, and everything's just about dandy. Now if Scott would only decide whether or not he still likes singing.....
By this time next week, we'll probably be getting done with our quartet evals and heading to the Show of Champions following the competition. We're following Central Standard's formula for contest set. Begin with a heart-wrenching ballad about utter helplessness in lost love (Last Night Was The End of The World), and follow it with a self-assured easy-beat telling her that she can come back any time (After You've Gone).
We'll be singing at the Central Standard rehearsal this coming Thursday. If anyone wants to come, talk to me on facebook. Mike, the director, encouraged us to bring friends and family to the next couple rehearsals (but as far as I know, we'll only sing at this next one).
I'm off to spend some quality time with the coach in my mirror. Bye.

| And here we are again, gearing up for collegiate competition. This time in Illinois since both Scottie and Ben have scheduling conflicts with the Central States convention. Just two months till the Illinois convention, and we still haven't picked out our second song. We're pretty sure we want to stick with Last Night Was the End of the World, and as soon as it arrives, we'll take a look at Over the Rainbow. Both potentially awesome songs, and hopefully it is within our power to fulfill that potential for Over the Rainbow.
Scottie and I have both joined Central Standard, a new powerful barbershop chorus (2nd place after the Ambassadors of Harmony in our first district competition!). And we both helped out with singing valentines with other members of the chorus. Given the chance, I'll definitely do it again.
Practice tonight seemed strangely unproductive, which is a bummer for the guys that drove out here. I guess having a plan beforehand helps. I imagine we're also feeling somewhat lazy not having a performance staring us in the face. I wish there was some way we could practice more because I think we could be pretty good given the time. Here's a snippet of Last Night Was the End of the World from tonight. It's a kinda rough recording, but I don't think anyone cared at the time. ......nevermind, it's being dumb

| Hubcaps, with Joe Kellinger singing bass, got second place at Harmony Explosion last month. Sammy's new quartet also got second in the girls division which is rather cool. Working with Ben again, we're preparing for the collegiate competition in Iowa City next month. Now all we have to do is get Ben to come to practice. Mr. Bob | | |
